Homely, sweet and nostalgic – Goodies to warm your winter

6 December, 2018 | Author admin

Winter has always been a special season. With the major festivals welcoming the season, the buzz of friends and relatives in the house, warm fuzzy layers of clothing, early sunsets, winter also offers a wide range of culinary delights to warm our hearts.

Being a foodie with a massive sweet jaw (not to be confused with a ‘singular’ sweet tooth), I have always looked forward to the season of Gud or jaggery. The new gudbeing brought home only meant one thing – homemade gud treats. The house would fill with the aroma of warm gud mixed with lightly roasted til to make bite-sized til rewris or til ke laddoo.

Even the visits to the shops would end up in boxes and boxes of gajaks bought on the pretext of having something to welcome the guests with or as gifts to the relatives and half of them being consumed before anyone even showed up at the door.

As a twenty-something living away from home for more than ten years now, winter still excites me, purely for the nostalgia of the warm sweet aroma of gud wafting through the chilly air. What has changed is that now I have to shop for these treats myself.

If you are living away from home like me, we have curated a range of winter goodies to warm you with the sweetness of jaggery and delicacies that will take you back in time and let you relive your winter memories.”
